The Safe Pathways S.C.A.M. Awareness Program was designed as a blended learning experience consisting of two complementary components. Module 1 provides foundational knowledge through a mobile-first eLearning experience, while Module 2 extends learning through facilitated discussion, collaborative analysis, and applied practice. Module 2 was intentionally designed as a blended extension of the eLearning experience, allowing learners to practice, discuss, and apply concepts introduced in Module 1.
Together, the modules support both individual understanding and social sense-making around scam awareness and protective decision-making.
Project Context
Module 2 extended the Safe Pathways learning experience through a trauma-informed instructor-led workshop designed to strengthen application, discussion, and decision-making skills related to scam awareness and protective action.
Instructional Challenge
Learners needed opportunities to move beyond recognition toward discussion, analysis, and real-world application while accommodating varying literacy levels, trauma histories, and cultural contexts.
Design Strategy
Designed a facilitated learning ecosystem integrating activation stations, case-based discussion, participant materials, facilitator supports, and structured reflection activities aligned to Merrill's First Principles and gradual release of responsibility.
Learner Experience
Learners engaged in collaborative problem solving, case-study analysis, reflection, and guided discussion activities that reinforced the S.C.A.M. framework and supported transfer beyond the workshop environment
Implementation
Supported through an integrated workshop slide deck, facilitator guide, participant guide, and trauma-informed facilitation protocols designed for flexible delivery across community settings.
Structured facilitation, case-study discussions, activation stations, and collaborative application activities.
Provided trauma-informed facilitation protocols, learner variability adaptations, discussion prompts, timing guidance, and implementation support.
Supported reflection, note-taking, self-assessment, case analysis, and continued application of the S.C.A.M. framework beyond the workshop.
